About us

Modern | Timeless | Artistic

At 26 & Modern, we’re a husband and wife wedding photography and videography team dedicated to capturing elegant weddings with style, heart, and intention. Our couples come to us for more than beautiful photos and films — they come for a seamless experience backed by trust and expertise.

Because we work as one unified team, every detail is aligned and delivered upon in a timely manner. From your initial inquiry to final delivery, we’re with you every step of the way, making sure nothing is missed and everything feels effortless.

Unlike piecing together separate vendors with mismatched styles or fleeting trends, we focus on what matters most: authentic moments that tell your story — beautifully and honestly — for years to come.

Our Standards

What’s Always Included (Because the Experience Matters) We’ve shaped our approach around one simple idea: your wedding day should feel real, relaxed, and fully yours. No pressure, no ticking clocks—just space to be present while we capture the story as it naturally unfolds.

Here’s what we always include, because we believe these things genuinely matter:

No Time Limits: We don’t believe in cutting your day into blocks of time. We’re there for the full picture—start to finish—so you’re never worrying about whether we’ve arrived too late or need to leave too soon. You focus on the moments; we’ll make sure they’re captured.

Engagement Session: This isn’t just about photos before the wedding—it’s a chance to connect, build trust, and get comfortable with us behind the camera. It makes a big difference on the day, and it’s one of our favorite parts of the process. We’ve intentionally built our process to remove stress, create space, and allow us to do our best work—for you. These features aren’t extras. They’re the foundation for capturing your day with clarity, care, and intention.

Digital + Film Coverage: We view our cameras as the necessary tools to intentionally capture the moments that matter most on your special day. Digital photography allows us to respond quickly, ensuring every fleeting moment is preserved. Film, however, invites us to pause and be intentional, creating images with a timeless, cinematic quality. We appreciate both mediums for their unique strengths, which is why we always use both in our work.

I have spent most of my adult life trying to figure out what it means to be a well rounded person. As a former athlete I had never known what a life outside of sports would look like for me. That is pretty much the story of my 20’s. Through that I picked up so many hobbies and interest along the way. I love movies (my most authentic self can be seen on my letterboxd profile) cooking, golf, card magic and clothes (although Lyss would say most of my wardrobe consist of basketball shorts and hoodies) My passion is coaching basketball, it keeps me grounded in who I am, who I have always been, and I think is the foundation for making me a better husband, friend and business owner.

I never envisioned a career in the wedding industry. When I shot my first wedding in 2017 it seemed like a one off thing, but over time it kind of snowballed and here I am 8 years later with 100+ weddings under my belt. Each year has seemed to throw something new at me, there have been times that felt like we were on the mountain top and it would never end and others where I considered stopping altogether. But here in 2025 I feel like 26&M is as strong as it has ever been and I have never been more motivated to continue my life of shooting and telling stories for couples.

If you’d told me 10 years ago that I’d be helping run a wedding photography and videography business with my husband, I probably would have laughed. My heart has always been in medicine and helping people, which is why I became a nurse and planned to stick with my career in healthcare. But, as life often does, it had different plans. In 2020, Stephen causally asked me to second-shoot as a videographer for a small wedding he was doing. Having never picked up a camera (besides my trusty purple Nikon Coolpix from 2009), I thought he was honestly crazy. But in hindsight, I now realize it was his sneaky way of getting to spend more time with me while we were dating!

Thankfully, I couldn’t resist him, and here we are—five years later, doing what we love together. All that to say, I truly ADORE documenting weddings. I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve thought to myself and even said out loud how cool this is to be able to do for a living. We have met so many wonderful people, traveled all over the country, and have gotten to experience the joy of wedding day over and over.

On my “off” days, you’ll find me back at the hospital as nurse, engaging in house projects, watching movies with Stephen (popcorn and cookie dough bites are a must for a true cinematic experience), or just spending time with our family and friends. I could chat for days but if you’ve made it this far, just know how grateful we are that you are here.
